KAROO
SALOON ON THE ROUTE
62...
HISTORY |

|
|

|
|
Willy Doerheit, a keen motorcyclist and
one-time hectic city slicker, spotted a patch of land 15km before
Barrydale on Route 62. He recognized it as the ideal place
to start his dream business - a Biker Theme
stop-over, pub n grub including accommodation,
with nature's tranquility at the back door.
He and Joan
started building in April 2006, and in December 2006 the Karoo
Saloon (the name was only decided upon two weeks before the official
opening) opened their doors to the public.
Their menu spoke
of simplicity but taste is what it's all about; pizzas, toasties,
and a great breakfast. They catered for private parties like
birthdays, reunions and at the outside braai facilities you could
even ask for a bubble bath swimming pool.
Willy and Joan had
an extended family; their two Potbelly pigs - Pork & Chop; their
parrot Scrumps and their Bull Terrier, Titan, who all kept the kids
entertained.
Now, under new management, The Legend
Lives On.
